How do I navigate through StarMine Monitor?
  • To view data by analyst, use the drop-down list in the upper left corner to select a particular analyst's name.
    1. Overall performance on multiple stocks by a particular analyst is viewable by selecting an analyst from the upper left drop-down list, then clicking "Performance". This highlights the analyst's recommendation and estimate performance across various time periods for the stocks covered.
    2. To view the analyst's current recommendations and estimates, select the appropriate name and click "Current Data". "Current Data" shows the stocks covered by the analyst, the analyst's current recommendations and estimates and highlights any estimates that may require attention, such as excluded estimates, stale estimates, or estimates that deviate significantly from the mean.
  • To view data for multiple analysts, click on the "Groupwide" tab in the upper left. The Performance page shows portfolio-level performance metrics for all analysts in the group. The Industry Rankings tab displays industry rankings for all analysts in each of the industries in which they qualify to be ranked. The Current Data page displays current recommendations and estimates for all analysts in the group and highlights data that may require attention.
  • To look up rankings by industry and the component stocks within each industry, click on "Industry" and then select a region and industry to view rankings by recommendation performance and estimate accuracy.
How do I use StarMine Monitor to improve my performance?
There are three ways. First, as an analyst, you can use Mine-ders to stay on top of your current recommendations and estimates. Mine-ders highlight excluded estimates, stale estimates, and estimates that deviate significantly from the mean. This information can be found on the current data page along with information about how your recommendations deviate from the mean recommendation, and how much stock prices have changed since your last recommendation change. Secondly, you can catch and correct any errors in the Refinitiv data. After reviewing your data, you can alter forecasts, correct errors, and compare your performance to other analysts. Finally, you can evaluate and learn from your own history by reviewing your own estimates and recommendations using StarMine's charting tools.
What is the difference between the Standard View and the Internal View?
The Internal View uses metrics customized by your firm for internal performance measurement and is intended for internal use only. For example, some firms may want to measure analyst performance over specific time periods to reflect their fiscal years or performance measurement cycles. Custom time periods can be created for performance measurement and are available in the Internal View, but are not available for analyst rankings in the Standard View.

The Standard View contains metrics that measure analysts at every firm the same way and shows analysts how their data appears to StarMine's buy-side client base. Monitor users can use rankings from the Standard View for marketing purposes.

The table below summarizes which data appear in the Internal and Standard Views:

Data Internal Standard
Performance data from prior brokers Excluded Included
Coverage Filters Available Not available
Team data aggregated by StarMine Available Not available
Market-Cap Weighted Portfolio Metrics Available Not available
Custom time periods Available Not available
How do I use the Preferences pages?
The Preferences screen can be accessed by clicking on the "Preferences" link in the upper right corner of every screen. Under "User Preferences", you can set a default startup page, change your password, opt to receive or not to receive Mine-der alerts by E-mail, elect to exclude inactive analysts, and opt to hide quarterly estimates from the Current Data pages.
