I cover a stock, but it doesn't show up on my Analyst page, or my name doesn't appear under the stock. Why?
There are seven possibilities.
  1. You are looking at the "Performance" screen, but have only begun covering the stock this month. Recommendation performance periods such as "T12M" (Trailing 12 Months) are updated to reflect the previous month's performance only at the end of each month. To see the exact begin and end date of the time periods you are viewing, see footnote 1 at the bottom of the Analyst page.
  2. You are looking at the "Performance" screen, but have only estimates for period(s) that have not yet reported. The "Performance" screen shows how accurate your estimates were on periods already reported. If the period hasn't been reported, we cannot judge your performance.
  3. You are viewing the "Current Data" screen, but you have only historic estimates.
  4. You are viewing the "Performance" screen for a stock with less than three analysts. We do not compute estimate accuracy for stocks with less than three analysts for at least half of the evaluation period.
  5. You chose to "exclude inactive analysts" in the "Options" screen and you have no current estimates.
  6. If none of the above cases apply, but you recently began coverage, your forecast may take a day or two to appear. If after two days, the recommendation or estimate is still not shown, please report this to StarMine (see "Reporting Errors"").
  7. Finally, the firmwide software administrator may need to modify firmwide view settings.
I don't cover a stock listed under my name. Why is this stock there?
There are two possibilities. First, this may be a stock you covered in the past. If you are reviewing historical data, performance data will remain up to three years, as defined by the time period examined. The second possibility is the data was incorrectly entered into the Refinitiv database. You may use the data correction feature to notify Refinitiv or us of any discrepancies (see "Reporting Errors").
How can I exclude inactive analysts from groupwide performance?
An inactive analyst is someone with no current estimates or recommendations. In the upper right of every screen, there is a "Preferences" link. Click the "Preferences" link, then the "User Preferences" section, then select "Exclude Inactive Analysts", then "Submit" to exclude these analysts from groupwide and analyst views.
I have covered a stock during the period. Why don't I have an Estimate Accuracy Score?
To get an Estimate Accuracy Score, at least three analysts, including you, must cover the stock during the selected period.
I have an Estimate Accuracy Score for an industry. Why am I not ranked?
To be ranked on Earnings Estimate Accuracy in an industry, StarMine requires that for 60% of the time periods in an interval, the analyst must have 40% coverage on at least 5 industry stocks. If an industry has fewer than 15 stocks, the 5-stock requirement is reduced to 1/3 of the stocks in the industry, but must include at least 3 stocks.
I have an Estimate Accuracy Score for a stock. Why am I not ranked?
To be ranked on Earnings Estimate Accuracy on a single stock, an analyst must have 40% coverage in at least 60% of the periods in the selected time interval.
I have a high stock recommendation score for an industry. Why aren't I ranked?
To be ranked on stock recommendation accuracy, StarMine requires that for 75% of the days in the selected time interval, an analyst must have a recommendation on at least 5 industry stocks. If an industry has fewer than 15 stocks, the 5-stock requirement is reduced to 1/3 of the stocks in the industry, but must include at least 3 stocks.
My name appears more than once, with different stocks under different names. Why?
A data entry error sometimes occurs where one analyst can have two records in the Refinitiv database. Examples of this include William and Bill, or Robert and Bob. It is additionally possible to have even two IDs with the exact same name. If any of these cases occur, please report these issues to StarMine (see "Reporting Errors").
How do I report errors?
We have built a system to facilitate the reporting of errors directly to Refinitiv. You will find a link called "Request a Data Correction" near the data on most pages in Monitor. Depending on the policy of your firm, this launches
  • An e-mail to someone in your firm.
  • A direct connection to Refinitiv via the StatCheck data correction tool.
  • An email directly to the data vendor to report the error. It is important to include as much detail as possible, including analysts involved, quarters/years where the errors occurs, and the nature of the errors.
Where do you get your data?
Currently, we use data from Refinitiv. Refinitiv is a global financial information services and technology company, best known as the quality source of analyst estimates and research for institutional investors. For more on Refinitiv, please click here.
When is your data updated?
Using Refinitiv data feeds, we update your current recommendation and earnings estimate data twice daily. Data for Asian and European stocks is updated after the European markets close and is available by 1 am (GMT). Data for North American and Latin American stocks is updated after the North American markets close and is available by 6 am, Eastern Standard Time, or 11 am, GMT.

We update recommendation performance once daily by 7am Eastern Standard Time, with a one-day lag. For example on Wednesday you will see performance based on returns from Monday's close. Periods such as 2004YTD and Nov03YTD are updated daily. Other periods, such as 2004, T12M, and T24M reflect performance beginning and ending on month ends, and thus are only updated monthly, on approximately the 3rd day of the following month.

We update earnings estimate accuracy scores whenever a company reports its quarterly or annual earnings. The updated scores are presented the morning after the company reports.
Which price do you use to calculate the performance of recommendations?
We use the closing price on the day of the recommendation change.
Can others in my firm see this data?
Yes. StarMine Monitor offers great flexibility to configure each user to view the data for one, some, or all analysts at your firm. Who in your firm can see your data depends on how your firm has chosen to set each user's permission levels.
Can other firms see this data?
StarMine's buy side clients can see individual analysts' data in much the same form as it is available in StarMine Monitor. Other StarMine Monitor (sell side) clients cannot see your firm's data, except for industry and single stock rankings. StarMine discloses the names of analysts and brokers that rank in the top half on a given stock or industry.
